Our sofen cushions, in a 40x40cm format, function as both comfortable, practical elements and modular design units — we fondly nickname them sofen pralines.
Designed to be combined in groups — whether drawn from our curated families or your personal selection — they work beautifully layered collectively or styled individually throughout a space.
sofen redefines a classic cushion with playfulness by rethinking the ordinary, embracing the unexpected.
There are six families in total, each derived from our design matrix. Each family is based on two colours that gradually transition into one another. A selected piping accent completes the composition.

What makes our cushions unique?
The Outer Cover
We work with fabrics commomly used for trench coats, chosen for their strength and timeless character.
Specifically, we use cotton twill—a classic trench coat fabric. Medium-heavy in weight, it is strong yet not stiff, with a soft touch that makes it both resilient and inviting.
All the fabric used for our outer cover is GOTS certified organic cotton: the highest and most holistic standard for organic textiles. Unlike other standards, it covers the entire supply chain from field to finished product, fully uniting organic agriculture, environmentally responsible processing and ethical labour.

Set on a diagonal, the zipper also makes it incredibly easy to access the inner cushion.
We may well be the only cushion brand investing in recycled, premium-quality invisible zippers: durable, responsible, and designed to last. It’s a harder route—one less travelled—but we believe this level of detail is essential to creating truly sustainable products.
The tape and teeth of the zippers are made from 100% recycled post-consumer PET bottles. The entire invisible zipper is produced to OEKO-TEX® standard 100 and Global Recycled standard 4.0.
The Inner Cover
The soft inner cover is made from fabric traditionally used for fine shirts.
Every sofen cushion has two covers. The soft pink inner cover is a quiet reward, revealed upon opening the outer cover. Beyond protecting the feather fillings, it embodies our design philosophy: the experience of the nicest cushion should not end at the zipper—it should go further, all the way to its core.
Our pink inner cushion cover is made from GOTS certified organic cotton Poplin— a fine, dense cotton weave with a smooth surface, valued for its quality.
Each cushion is generously filled with 50% more feathers than standard, ensuring perfect volume and lasting shape. The feather inserts are responsibly produced in Germany, with full consideration for animal welfare and the environment, and are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
In Edition Shore, five piping colours have been selected, each chosen to accentuate and complete the fabric combinations.
Our piping is made from GOTS certified organic cotton threads: the soft and silky texture offers a delicate shimmer.

Being sustainable is being in every details.
All our labels are woven from OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified organic cotton yarn and meet EN 71-3 safety standards, ensuring they are safe and sustainable —even for children’s toys.
