In 2016, I designed and sewed the first prototype of sofen cushions for our new home.  I wanted to complement both the antique sofa we inherited from great-grandparents and the low leather club sofa I bought when I first moved to Berlin.

The wish was to create a versatile cushion that suits any interior yet still catches the eye.  The challenge was to maintain the simplicity of the classic while giving it a distinctive appearance and new identity.

sofen reimagines the classic by shifting the edges and softening the sides — transforming a two-sided cushion into a three - dimensional surface for new expression.  A new character in the world of cushions.

A cushion is not just a cover; it’s also a container. That’s why each sofen cushion has a pink layer within — my way of giving attention to the inside as much as the outside.

Years have passed, our sofen cushions have accompanied us through countless moments—from warm midsummer evenings to the coldest winter days, from cozy movie nights to spontaneous pillow fights. They’ve been well-tested and cherished by us and our guests.

Now, they can come to you too.

These are the three ingredients I value most when it comes to quality of design.

As an architect-designer — working across architecture and, extensively, contemporary art over a long period of time — it’s essential to me that each piece strikes a thoughtful balance between aesthetic and skilled craftsmanship, using responsibly sourced, environmentally friendly materials.

I work with certified sustainable fabrics and collaborate closely with Berlin-based tailors who handmake each cushion, sharing my commitment to quality.
